Progressing Along

dcp_0001.jpg

Here the craft is sitting on blocks 8" above the trailer bed. That is the height that it should hover so that is where it is sitting to build the skirt.

front view

The skirting is started but I have a long way to go yet. What you see of the skirt is excess material hanging down.

lift front

The lift fan is a Multi-Wing 6-blade-9-hub measuring 24" in diameter. The blades are replacable if they get damaged.

lift right

The trailer bed is made from 15/32" exterior grade plywood on 2X3" wood framing. It measures 14' long by 7' wide.

front top view

The windsheild frame is made out of aluminum.
The windsheild is a .177" lexan type material, very flexible.

front top lift

I finally found exhaust components at A1 Small Engines in Holland, MI and had a friend from work weld them up to make a complete exhaust system.

lift left

driver's side

The craft is slowly taking shape. Long time coming.

dual exhaust

Here the thrust engine is sitting in place along with the pillow blocks, 1-1/4" stainless steel shaft, pulleys and fan.

exhaust still needing touch-up

You can also see the dual exhaust in place. The muffles are John Deere type. I got the parts from the same place as the lift engine exhaust and the same person welded them up as before.

thrust fan in place

The thrust fan is now in place. It is also a Multi-Wing fan with 9 blades measuring 780mm in diameter. Both fans I got from Phil Stockman of Hoverware Hardware.

passenger side thrust engine view

This is the passenger side, here you can see the dual exhaust and oil filter. The battery is also on this side.
I didn't put any belts on it yet. I may have to fabricate an idler pulley system.

This project is taking some time to complete. I want to make sure it is done right to limit the number of breakdowns. The rewards will be worth it, though.
